Richard Cooper

With a keen eye and an Americano in hand Richard has been shooting from the hip since before he could walk. Rich took the plunge into filmmaking by accepting a request to create a promo video for a friend and local tour operator in Haines, Alaska. On this particular venture, he was paid upfront and bought his first camera. Prior to this he spent most of his teens and 20s chasing the dream of becoming a Rock Star! He studied music at the University of Alaska from 1984-1988, following his dream he then toured as a professional and studio musician until 1994. Eventually Rich and Kyle crossed paths and have since developed a yin & yang relationship as they helped each other ‘push’ cinematic boundaries. One of Rich’s greatest achievements was becoming an Emmy Award winning Cinematographer for his work as Director of Photography on Alaska Channel’s – There’s No Place Like Nome. His skills don’t end there as he is constantly studying digital work flows from RED One to DSLR. Rich was highly recruited to Hybrid Color Films for his ability to take the entire team to new heights.
